Ziad Zokari 's Syrian National Costume: Collection No. 2 | 8 Full Prints & Map
أزياء شعبية سورية

This rare set of original prints comes from Syrian National Costume (أزياء شعبية سورية), part of Ziad Zokari’s landmark documentation of regional Syrian dress.

Produced in the mid-20th century, with the project beginning in the 1950s, this series was conceived as a cultural and nationalist preservation project, created to record Syrian folk dress at a moment when tradition, craft, and regional identity were rapidly disappearing.

Collection No. 2 includes a beautifully illustrated and highly detailed map of Syria, showcasing regional costume across the entire country. The map is accompanied by an extensive key, allowing viewers to understand how dress, form, and ornament shift across geography, villages, and cities. It stands as one of the most visually and academically valuable components of the work.

There exists very limited visual and written documentation of what Syrians across regions have worn over the decades. Much of what circulates today is fragmented or reproduced digitally. Zokari’s work remains one of the few illustrated records systematically documenting Syrian dress across geography.

These are original, full-color prints, now out of print and rarely encountered outside of institutional or private collections. A true collector’s item and an essential cultural record. Printed c. late 1950s–early 1960s.

We are deeply honored to offer this incredibly rare collection of work to our Syrian community and diaspora, where it belongs.

Condition & Measurements:
Each print is 9” x 13” and the map is 17” x 13.” These prints are over 60 years old. The envelope is in worn condition with splitting along the sides of the folds. The prints and map are in excellent condition considering their age.
