The Mid-Century Velvet Taqsirah Jacket

$1,000.00

The Mid-Century Velvet Taqsirah Jacket

This exceptionally rare taqsirah jacket, dating to the late 1940s–early 1950s, is fully handcrafted with high-end materials—lush black velvet, silk lining, and intricate hand-embroidered tahriri stitch work with silk floss details.

The embroidery is heavy, detailed, and beautifully preserved, making this piece a remarkable example of craftsmanship from the period. This jacket is the oldest Taqsirah we have in the shop. It’s a true testament to the level of artistry and craftsmanship our people were capable.

Condition notes:

  • The velvet remains in excellent condition with no damages.

  • A small section of tahriri stitch on the right sleeve has come apart, though it is hardly noticeable. The flaw is no bigger than an 1/2.”

  • The lining under the arm was opened to insert shoulder pads and but was left unfinished. We removed the shoulder pads as this is a historically incorrect modification. This open seams in the armpits can easily be hand-stitched closed.

The jacket will be sold as is. Its rarity, quality of materials, and incredible embroidery make it an heirloom-worthy antique. A collector’s items.
