Vintage Mid-Century Syrian Skirt
Hand-embroidered in Idlib, Syria (1940s–1960s)
This vintage a-line skirt was handmade in the Idlib region of Syria, known for its bold geometric tatreez motifs. It was crafted between the 1940s and 1960s using Habar—a locally woven black silk favored for its softness and durability.
The embroidery features vibrant threads in neon green, deep red, purple, orange, and magenta. Arranged in square and circular patterns, these motifs are symbolic of the moon—honoring a woman’s connection to her menstrual cycle and lunar phases. 🌙
All embroidery is stitched entirely by hand. The skirt is finished with a fitted waistband and zipper closure. Length is midi to maxi depending on height.
This skirt is in pristine condition.
Best fits US women’s size 6–8 at the waist. Can be easily altered to fit a smaller size.
