The Bethlehem Malaka is one of the most iconic Palestinian thobes, known for its beautiful Qabbah, the gold embroidered chest panel.
This Qabbah, dating to the late 1800s, features incredible Qassab and Tahriri couching work, showcasing the finest of Bethlehem’s embroidery traditions. Influenced by church vestments and Ottoman uniforms, its design evolved from simple geometric patterns to richly detailed gold threadwork.
By the early 20th century, the Malaka had become a staple of the Palestinian kiswah and a proud symbol of cultural heritage.
The qabbah features silk floss and intricate Qassab and Tahriri stitch work. In incredible, well-preserved condition. Can be added to an upcycled malak dress.
