The Deek and Asfoor Tatreez Blazer
The Deek & Asfoor Tatreez Blazer
This one-of-a-kind blazer was upcycled from a hand-embroidered thobe, likely made in the 1950s–1960s. The embroidery features roosters (deek), symbols of renewal and a new day, alongside birds (asfoor), symbols of freedom.
The motifs and colors suggest origins in the Southern Coastal Plains of Palestine or Beer Saba’, with strong influence from Rumi Ramallah thobes. The embroidery reflects the work of a highly skilled Palestinian embroiderer, with precise, masterful stitching.
The base fabric with the embroidery is a cotton Qmaash. The lining is a green polyester satin.
The blazer has a ¾ sleeve and can be styled casually with jeans or dressed up with slacks or a simple dress.
Measurements:
Armpit to armpit: 21.5" (≈43" bust)
Shoulder to hem: 26"
¾ sleeve length
Fit Details:
Best fits US Women’s Size Medium (4–10, up to a Petite 12). Can be worn fitted or oversized, depending on preference.
