Mid-Century Syrian Qandura Saraqib Fustan
Mid-Century Syrian Qandura Saraqib Fustan
This special qandura is fully hand embroidered with silk floss on polished habar cotton. This qandura fustan is from the Saraqib/Idlib district and was likely made between the 1950s and early 1960s.
We’re so honored to have this piece of history in our shop to offer our community in diaspora.
These dresses are becoming increasingly difficult to find and even more difficult to source in Syria, as they are no longer made. The silhouette is an elegant A-line with generous proportions.
In pristine, well preserved condition. No damage, tears, or holes.
Our model is 5'8" and wears a size 8 (medium). These fustans are traditionally worn with a relaxed, oversized fit.
Measurements (taken flat):
Armpit to armpit: 24 in
Shoulder to hem: 51 in
This is by far the most heavily embroidered and well crafted Syrian fustan we’ve offered in the shop. This dress is a collector’s item and truly museum worthy. It is quite heavy from the amount of thick silk floss embroidery and the density of the tiny stitches, a testament to the incredible craftsmanship of Syrian hands.
✨ PLEASE NOTE ✨
All SAMAKA pieces are antique or vintage and may show signs of age — minor wear or patina that reflect their unique histories. Nothing is perfect, and that’s exactly the charm of vintage and antique clothing. We encourage you to read descriptions carefully and reach out with any questions before purchasing.
We do not offer online checkout. Every piece is sold through one-on-one conversation to ensure an intentional, intimate shopping experience.
