Made from multiple rows of intricate linked silver chainwork, with an ornate central buckle featuring red coral inlays and detailed filigree. Finished with numerous Ottoman coin pendants along the lower edge and center.
This style of belt is associated with the traditional dress of Bedouin and peasant (falaheen)
women of southern Syria. A similar belt is documented in Johannes Kalter’s The Arts and Crafts of Syria, p. 94.
