A very old Palestinian thobe from the Naqab, featuring a qabbah (chest panel) dating to the 1930s~ paired with a later dress body from the 1950s~. The woman who owned this was likely widowed.
This thobe is a beautiful example of how textiles were preserved and repurposed within Palestinian society. Rather than discarding an older embroidered panel, it was incorporated into a later garment, allowing the tatreez to continue to be worn and passed down.
