1970s Black and Gold Gaza Co-op Thobe

$500.00

There’s something so special about thobes made in the tatreez co-ops of the 1970s ✨

We love the modern silhouettes, lush linen-cotton fabric, and geometric motifs from that era; a time when embroidery became both a form of cultural resistance to occupation and displacement, and a source of livelihood for Palestinian women. 🪡

At SAMAKA, we feel so grateful to have found a handful of these unique and historic thobes; true hallmarks of tatreez practice and craftsmanship. 🤍

This 1970s thobe features qilada motifs in classic white and golden yellow on black cotton-linen, indicating it was made in a G4z4 tatreez co-op.
It has a more fitted, modern silhouette with two side slits and a zipper closure at the back.

No damages, holes or tears. In great, well preserved condition.

Measurements:
50” shoulder to bottom hem
Armpit to armpit: 19”
Best fits size: 2–4 (up to a 6 depending on bust)
Best fits height: 5’0”–5’4”
